Greetings from your Community BoardMessage from the ChairMarch marks the start of the year's most colourful season and we've just celebrated one of our community's most vibrant and valued annual events, Culture Galore. A big thank you to everyone who gave their feedback on our draft 2020-2022 Community Board Plan. The Board will be reviewing this feedback over the coming weeks and we're looking forward to hearing your views on what's important for our Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton community. Finishing line in sight for Riccarton Road works An $18.4 million project to upgrade a busy stretch of Riccarton Road is going to finish eight months earlier than expected. It was originally anticipated that work to upgrade Riccarton Road between Harakeke and Matipo streets would take until the end of 2020. Contractors appointed for Hornby's new library, customer services and recreation and sport centreThere's been another step towards work starting on the new Hornby facility, to be located at Kyle Park. The Council has now appointed Warren & Mahoney as the lead design consultant, Aecom as project managers, and Rawlinsons as quantity surveyors. Culture Galore festival a successHundreds of people from across Christchurch took part in the 2020 Culture Galore Festival in Ilam last month. We're delighted to celebrate the success of this valued annual event, held in partnership with the Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board. Here's some photos of all the fun that we had on the day. Level 1 water restrictions still in place across ChristchurchWater restrictions are still in place. Thank you to everyone for keeping an eye on your water usage. Level 1 restrictions means no outdoor water use is permitted between 3pm and 9pm, and the use of hoses, sprinklers and garden irrigation systems is permitted only on alternate days. Safer speeds in central RiccartonThanks to everyone who gave their feedback on the safer speed limit proposed for Riccarton. We are currently analysing the feedback and we will be presenting the information to the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board in March before it goes to Council for a final decision.
