The survival of Nigeria’s elephants hangs in the balance. Over the last 30 years their population has crashed and there are only 300-400 animals left today. Conservationist Tajudeen Amusa unpacks the threats they face and the four urgent steps that are needed to save them.

When African countries gained independence from colonial powers in the 1960s, higher education became a priority. Public universities were tasked with driving national development, and many large flagship institutions were successful in doing this.
