Commencement Ceremony

Graduates of the Class of 2022,

It’s official: the countdown to commencement has begun! Here’s what you need to know to prepare for the big day.

Doctoral, Master of Fine Arts, and Medical Professional Degree Candidate Ceremony
Friday, May 13, 2022 | Kohl Center | 5:30 p.m.
Graduates should arrive and be seated by 5:10 p.m. During the ceremony, we will recognize our Honorary Degree recipients, Krishna Ella ’93, Ernest Grant, and Keith Nosbusch ’74.
Read more about their contributions to the Wisconsin Idea in this news story.

There are no tickets for the Friday ceremony, and guest seating is first come, first served. Graduates or guests needing assistance or accommodations at the Kohl Center should visit our accessibility resources to learn more. At Friday's ceremony, diploma covers will be distributed to graduates, and names will be read. Cap and gown rentals are available through the University Book Store.

Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Law Degree Candidate Ceremony
Saturday, May 14, 2022 | Camp Randall Stadium | Noon
Graduates should arrive and be seated by 11:20 a.m. This year's
keynote speaker will be Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield ’75, representative of the United States of America to the United Nations.

There are no tickets for attendees, and seating is first come, first served. Check out the Camp Randall and shuttle maps as you plan for the celebration. Graduates or guests needing assistance or accommodations at Camp Randall should visit our accessibility resources to learn more.

Graduates participating in the Saturday ceremony will receive their diploma folder when they pick up their cap and gown rental at the University Book Store, except for business and engineering degree candidates, whose school or college will distribute their diploma folder to them at their respective celebrations. Business and engineering grads not attending their school or college celebration can pick up their folder at the University Book Store or the Registrar’s Office.

Not sure if you want to attend in person at Camp Randall? Seeking indoor accessibility accommodations? Join fellow graduates and families for ceremony watch parties at either Memorial Union or Union South.

Both ceremonies will be livestreamed to our commencement website via YouTube. Graduates, family members, and guests can catch the ceremony live, or the ceremony recording will be available for viewing after the event at any time.
