New Directions for Stand Like Stone

2025 will bring new beginnings for the Stand Like Stone Foundation with the retirement of Chief Executive Officer, Roger Babolka.

Roger commenced as CEO in January 2022. His appointment brought both practical knowledge and understanding of the Limestone Coast through his 30-year career working across many industries and differing levels of government. Roger’s connections through his long history of volunteer service in the region has served to support his work for Stand Like Stone.

 "My decision to take the path to semi-retirement has not been made lightly, as my time with the foundation has been incredibly fulfilling and I am appreciative of the opportunity to be part of an extremely valued organisation. I wish the foundation well and will continue to be a strong advocate for Stand Like Stone and their work throughout the Limestone Coast region," Mr Babolka said.

Mr Babolka’s final day with the Stand Like Stone Foundation is on Friday 31^st January.

“The Board would like to recognise the efforts of Roger Babolka and thank him for his contribution to Stand Like Stone over the past 3 years. We wish him the very best for his future and look forward to him remaining a friend of the foundation”, said Georgie McKay, Chair of Stand Like Stone Foundation.

Interim management arrangements have been implemented for the foundation commencing next week, with recruitment for a new CEO expected to begin in February. The introduction of the new community charities DGR category will bring exciting opportunities for Stand Like Stone, enabling easier giving and greater impact across the region, as well as opportunities for growth.

“It is important that we recruit the right individual to grasp these opportunities and further the growth of Stand Like Stone. We need to be ready to deliver upon the immense benefits that DGR reform will enable and flow the benefits through to the communities within the Limestone Coast region”, said Mrs McKay.
