The following indicators will show a time series break and the changes include:
The 'What's new/Different in IHD Reporting for January 2022' document with details of all changes will be available at User Support link through the HDP. Keep an eye on this e-newsletter for further notification of the updates. Item 2: Interactive reports The Qlik interactive reports have been updated to reflect the changes to indicators PI01, PI02, PI11, PI13 and PI24 made for the June 2021 collection. Where what is being measured has changed sufficiently to cause a break in the time series, the graphs in Qlik showing your data over time have been split into 'before' and 'after' views. ![]() Note that where a break in time series occurs, the Summary and Executive Summary will (temporarily) not show previous period data, as it is no longer comparable. In the Summary sheets, this means that - for updated indicators - the light blue circle representing the previous period value will not show until the updated version has been reported more than once. ![]() Indicator updated in June 2021: no previous period value shown ![]() Indicator updated in December 2020: previous period value now shown again. The interactive reports also have two new features: a dynamic Executive Summary and a report showing progress against the Closing the Gap Target #2 (Healthy Birthweight). The dynamic Executive Summary has replaced the Introduction sheet in the reports. It shows a snapshot overview of your organisation's nKPI results over the last three collections, along with comparisons at national, state/territory, service size and remoteness levels, plus a custom comparison field. The Executive Summary is very similar to the Excel published report also available to you but can be accessed without needing to download anything. The new Closing the Gap sheet shows your health service's Normal Birthweight results (PI02) against the yearly targets to December 2031 established for the Closing the Gap Target #2 (Healthy Birthweight). You can also view results for any comparison group such as national, state/territory, service size and remoteness etc against the targets. ![]() Item 3: Published reports The Qlik published reports are available throughout the year, and are updated each time you submit nKPI data. You can access and download your most up-to-date nKPI Summary Report (PowerPoint) and nKPI Executive Summary Report (Excel) as they are regenerated each week. Please note that when the templates for these reports need to be changed to reflect nKPI updates, weekly publishing is briefly paused until the new version is available. A step by step guide to accessing your published reports is available through the User Support link. If you are not able to access these reports, please make sure you have the Published Report Viewer role. Please reach out to your organisation's HDP User Administrator to request, or send an email request to indigenousreporting@health.gov.au. Item 4: How do I know I've finished reporting? Users of the HDP can have different roles in the Health Data Portal in terms of what functions and activities they can perform. One person can have all the roles, or each role can be assigned to a different person. There are a variety of statuses in the submission workflow process. Whether you are the only person in the HDP for your service or there is more than one person, if you are happy with the data, the final status is 'Submission Approved'. To finish reporting, and send the data assets to the AIHW for processing, you need to set the data asset to Submission Approved. What if my data asset is returned to me from the AIHW? Sometimes the AIHW returns your data asset, asking clarification questions. If this happens, please review the questions and the related data items. Then, if you are happy with either the data or your responses to AIHW's clarification questions, set the data asset to 'Submission Approved' to send back to the AIHW. You can do this whether you are the only person in the HDP for your service or there is more than one person. This can happen more than once. You are not finished reporting until you change the status to 'Submission Approved' and the AIHW does not return it back. Item 5: Australian Immunisation Register COVID vaccination app The Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) COVID-19 vaccination data is now available through the same HDP log in used for the nKPI Qlik application, as shown below. The data is updated daily. ![]() There are now support materials to help you navigate the immunisation pages. If you would like training, please email indigenousreporting@health.gov.au to arrange a time. The Qlik COVID application is provided to the sector for internal planning and continuous quality improvement purposes only. Any data or extracts from the Qlik app are not to be made publicly available. Should you have any questions about the COVID application or the data loaded on it please contact indigenousreporting@health.gov.au. Item 6: Update on new indicators Thank you to the 47 organisations who took the time to provide feedback to the consultation process for Potential new National Key Performance Indicators for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander primary health care (nKPIs). Two new nKPIs, one for STI tests and one for ear health checks, will be developed for implementation into the HDP for the 1 July 2022 nKPI collection. Inclusion of the new indicators will not increase reporting burden, as the information required for these indicators is already collected in your clinical information system and will be automatically extracted. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Service Data Advisory Group (HS DAG) endorsed pilot testing of the new indicators out of session in September 2021. The new indicators will be pilot tested with services on an opt-out basis for the first two reporting rounds. Data from the pilot periods will be analysed to assess whether the new indicators will be rolled out to all reporting health services as part of the nKPI collection. We are currently in the process of finalising the indicator definitions. Further information will be provided in future newsletters when the details are finalised.
