2025 Customer Survey

We want to hear from you, and we’re making it easier than ever.

Your feedback helps us understand what’s working, where we can improve, and how we can continue serving as a trusted resource for Florida’s surplus lines industry.

This year, we’re simplifying our customer surveys into quick, focused monthly check-ins. Each mini survey will include just 5–7 questions centered on a specific theme, making it easier to share your thoughts without taking too much time.

This month’s theme is service. We want to know how our office has supported you over the last 18 months and how we can continue evolving to better meet your needs.

The survey is anonymous and should take no more than 3 minutes to complete.

Take the May survey below and help shape how we serve you moving forward.

Understanding Multi‑Factor
Authentication (MFA) in SLIP+

Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA) is an added layer of security for SLIP+ accounts. Instead of relying only on a username and password, MFA requires an additional verification step, helping protect accounts from unauthorized access. While MFA is currently optional, it will be required in the future, and users are strongly encouraged to set it up now.

How MFA Works in SLIP+

SLIP+ offers three MFA options:

  • Authenticator App (such as Duo, Microsoft Authenticator, or 1Password)
  • Text Message (SMS)
  • Email Verification

At least one MFA method is required, but users can, and should, set up multiple methods. Having a backup option ensures you can still log in if your primary method is unavailable, such as when you get a new phone or cannot access your authenticator app.

During login, users will be prompted to set up MFA. MFA settings can be managed at any time by selecting your name in the top‑right corner and navigating to Settings > Multi‑Factor Authentication, where you can add, reset, or delete authentication methods.

Common MFA Issues and How to Avoid Them

  1. Multiple people sharing one account:
One of the most common MFA problems occurs when multiple staff members share a single SLIP+ login. MFA credentials are tied to the individual, not the agency. If one person sets up MFA on a shared account, others may be locked out.

Best practice: Each staff member or filer should have their own user account. This allows everyone to set up their own MFA without disrupting access for others.

  2. No backup authentication method:
Users who rely on only one MFA option—especially an authenticator app—may lose access if they change phones or cannot retrieve verification codes.

Best practice: Always set up at least two MFA methods, such as pairing an authenticator app with email or SMS.

  3. Incorrect setup of authenticator apps:
Scanning the QR code incorrectly (such as using the phone’s camera instead of the authenticator app itself) can prevent successful setup.

Tip: Always scan the QR code from within the authenticator app, not the phone’s camera.

Creating Individual User Accounts

Agencies can avoid most MFA issues by creating separate user accounts for staff. Additional user accounts can be added through Settings > User Manager, and there is no limit to the number of users allowed. This ensures secure access while preventing MFA conflicts caused by shared credentials.

XML Batch Submission Validation vs. Upload

FSLSO offers batch filing of transaction data for surplus lines agents using eXtensible Markup Language (XML) or comma-separated value (CSV) formats. For agencies submitting policies and endorsements through XML batch, it is important to validate XML files against the schema before submitting the file.

FSLSO offers schema validation directly in SLIP+. This time-saving feature automatically uses the appropriate XSD schema file based on your user account type. To access the schema validation in SLIP+, click Filings from the menu bar, Batch Upload, then Validate XML Batch File.

Please note: Submitting the XML file for the schema validation in SLIP+ does not submit the XML file for filing purposes. After you have validated against the schema, you may then upload the file under the Test Filing tab on the Batch Files page (Filings > Batch Upload > Upload Batch File). Files uploaded under the Test Filing tab will ensure it validates against the schema and system business rules. Files submitted under the Test Filing tab will not be processed in the live system.

Once you have completed your testing and confirm the XML file validates against the schema and meets the system business rules, you are ready to submit your XML file under the Production Filing tab. Files uploaded under this tab will be imported into the live environment and transactions will be processed for quarterly billing.
