The 127th Crofton House School Birthday
Dear Alumnae,
On Friday, March 7, we came together to celebrate Crofton House’s 127th birthday. The campus was alive with excitement as alumnae from various generations reunited, reminisced and created new memories alongside current CHS students and staff.
The day began with the Birthday Celebration Assembly. Ena Harrop, Head of School, and Jenna Jaffer ‘25, Head Prefect, shared inspiring messages connected to our rich history. Together, they encouraged us to honour our past and its many pioneers, while actively shaping our narrative today to celebrate women's agency and create a better future for the next generations of CHS students.
The assembly also featured performances from our Early Childhood Education Centre students, the Junior and Senior School Choirs, the Senior School Orchestra, and this year’s Senior School musical cast.

Alumnae had the chance to visit with Junior and Senior School students, share their experiences, and learn more about student life today.

The traditional School Birthday lunch, held in the Heritage Dining Room, was an opportunity for alumnae to reconnect, explore the Old Residence, share stories of their time at CHS and leave written messages for the Class of ’25 students. The 1965, 1970 and 1985 classes also celebrated milestone reunion years.

A highlight of the day was the guided tour of The Woods with Marc Stewart, the Head Gardener. Alumnae learned about the woods' reforestation and replanting efforts and the work done with students during this process. Marc also shared stories about historical sections of The Woods that his team has unearthed, bringing alumnae back to areas significant to CHS alumnae across generations. Alumnae also had the chance to visit the iconic Horse Tree, adjacent to the Woods!

As you may have read in the last edition of 1898, thanks to the thoughtful generosity of the Leggat family, we were able to address The Woods's immediate needs. This inspired another alumna to match donations to the project up to $50,000.
Every donation, big or small, will help preserve this beloved space for future generations of Crofton House students. If you haven’t yet had a chance to support The Woods Fund, you can find the link below:
Thank you to all of the alumnae who attended the 127th School Birthday. View more photos from this special annual event.
