2026 Categorisation Guidelines coming on 1 September The AICIS Executive Director will issue the next annual release of the Industrial Chemicals Categorisation Guidelines, which takes effect on 1 September 2026. The main changes will include updates to the list of chemicals with high hazards for categorisation – read our announcement on March 2026 for full details. We will also update our step-by-step online ‘Guide to categorising your chemical importation and manufacture’ on 1 September to reflect the changes. Registration reminderHave you registered your business for 2026–27?Registrations for the 2026–27 AICIS registration year are open now! Don't forget to register for 2026–27 before 31 August 2026 if you're planning to introduce industrial chemicals after 1 September. Many introducers will benefit from a one-off reduction in registration levies for this upcoming registration year. Annual declarations due soonIt's time to submit your annual declaration for 2025–26If you introduced (imported or manufactured) industrial chemicals for commercial use between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026, you must submit an annual declaration by 30 November 2026. By submitting an annual declaration, you are declaring that your chemical introductions during the 2025–26 registration year were authorised under the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019 (IC Act). Post-introduction declarations (PID)Do you need to submit a post-introduction declaration for 2025–26?If you introduced an industrial chemical in the AICIS exempted category between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026, you may need to submit a PID by 30 November 2026. A PID is a one-off declaration for each chemical that is one of the following:
Call for information: Share use, hazard or exposure informationDo you have information that could support our evaluations?Under section 75 of the IC Act, we are seeking current use, hazard and exposure information for chemicals being evaluated under our Rolling Action Plan. We're seeking targeted information about some chemicals and more general information on others. You can voluntarily submit information any time by completing our online form.
