Move for the Moments No images? Click here Edition 80, Move for the Moments 2026Hi Friends,
This year, we're Moving for the Moments - moments of resilience, hope, connection and progress that shape every epilepsy journey. Registrations open Saturday 1 August 2026.
The moments worth celebrating. A child returning confidently to school. A first seizure-free birthday. Learning to drive. Graduating. Starting a new job. Simply enjoying another ordinary day. The moments that challenge us. A first seizure. A diagnosis. Living with uncertainty. Supporting someone you love. The moments that bring our community together. A helping hand. A shared story. A community walk. A future filled with hope. For the 1 in 25 Australians who will be diagnosed with epilepsy during their lifetime, every moment matters. Some moments bring joy. Some bring uncertainty. Some change lives forever. When you register for Walk for Epilepsy 2026, you're doing far more than signing up for a walking, running or riding challenge. You're helping ensure that people living with epilepsy have: 🟣 Access to trusted information Every dollar raised helps ensure no Tasmanian has to face epilepsy alone. Together, we're creating hope, connection and brighter futures for people living with epilepsy across Tasmania. How will you Move for the Moments? However you choose to participate, you’ll be helping create real change. 🟣 Walk / Run / Ride 100km Challenge Challenge yourself to complete 100 kilometres throughout October. Move Together Walk for Epilepsy isn’t just about individual challenges. It’s about bringing together families, workplaces, schools, sporting clubs and communities to show people living with epilepsy that they are never alone. Every person who takes part reminds Tasmania that epilepsy matters, families matter, and no one walks this path alone. YOUR MOMENT STARTS HERE Walk for Epilepsy 2026 registrations open Saturday 1 August. Whether you’re moving for yourself, someone you love, in memory of someone special, or simply because everyone deserves support, we’d love you to join us. Let’s Move for the Moments.
The Senate Inquiry into Epilepsy in Australia has announced additional public hearings across the country, and they are coming to Hotel Grand Chancellor, Launceston on Tuesday 4 August 2026, with Tassie presenting from 2:15PM. The hearing is open to the public, and everyone is welcome to join us. This is an important milestone for Tasmania's epilepsy community. It means decision-makers are actively listening and want to understand the unique realities of living with epilepsy in our state, including: 🏥 Gaps in healthcare and support To everyone who shared their story, made a submission, encouraged us, and stood beside us throughout this journey—thank you. Your voices ensured Tasmania's experiences are being heard and recognised as part of this important national conversation. This Public hearing builds on the important work already undertaken at the National Public Hearing in Canberra last month, where I, alongside colleagues from across Australia, represented the national epilepsy community, together with Tassie mum, Danielle who courageously shared her family's experience of supporting her young daughter living with epilepsy. We're especially proud that four more Tasmanians with lived experience of epilepsy will be sharing their personal stories directly with the Senate Committee in Launceston. Their courage and willingness to speak up will help decision-makers better understand the real impacts of epilepsy on individuals, families, and our community. We look forward to representing our community at this public hearing, amplifying the experiences, challenges, and priorities of people living with epilepsy, their families and carers. We'll continue to keep you updated as the Inquiry progresses towards its final report later this year. 💜 Meaningful change happens when a community comes together. We'd love to see you there as we stand alongside our epilepsy community and continue advocating for a future where every Tasmanian affected by epilepsy feels heard, supported, and valued. Together, we're ensuring every Tasmanian affected by epilepsy has a voice, a community behind them, and hope for the future.💜 Warmly, Paul Quilliam
