NIH Repays Up to $50,000/Year of Educational Debt for Researchers Do you have student debt? If so, you can get up to $100,000 repaid towards your student loans with a two-year award from the NIH Loan Repayment Programs (LRPs) in exchange for a two-year commitment to conduct research. The Extramural LRP has six subcategories that
aim to recruit and retain highly qualified biomedical and behavioral scientists. The LRPs are unique programs, with tremendous benefit to early-stage researchers, so we strongly encourage researchers that were not successful in getting their applications funded to apply again. Ready to apply for an LRP award? The application cycle is now open until November 17, 2022.
Clinical Research Tip of the Month
Participant Compensation At MCW, there are four acceptable methods for paying and/or reimbursing study subjects for their participation in human subject research. The PI may select the method most appropriate for each human research study, as it is understood that some payment types may be necessary and/or preferred for certain research subject populations. Regardless of the method of payment chosen, the PI or designee must maintain supporting documentation of receipt by the study participant. In addition, the actual payment method must align with the IRB-approved informed consent form. Study stipends are payable to study subjects using the following methods, listed in order of convenience and institutional
preference: Please refer to the attached
document which outlines the considerations for each payment method, when collecting SSN is required, and outline of procedures for setting up each payment method.
