Welcome to the March edition of the Queensland Mental Health Week (QMHW) eNews!

In this month's newsletter, we share resources to help you prioritise your mental wellbeing as well as tips to help you with your QMHW planning. You can start by marking your diaries with the 2024 Queensland Mental Health Week dates below.

An announcement will be made shortly about the theme for this year, so stay tuned!

We are also updating the QMHW website, so in the coming weeks you will be able to register your events. Remember officially registering your event comes with a range of benefits, including having your own page on our website, use of the QMHW logo, the option to be mentioned in our communications, and more. Most importantly, your event will be on the 'map' for all to see!

Let's make 2024 a year where we all help create mentally healthier communities together.

Take time to relax and recharge over the long weekend

Whether you are catching up with family and friends, or just enjoying time on your own, this long weekend is a great opportunity to prioritise your mental health and wellbeing.

You might like to embrace the healing power of nature and go for a bushwalk or stroll through a park! Studies have shown that spending time in nature can improve your mood, and reduce stress. Perhaps you'll take a peaceful walk on the beach, feel the sand between your toes, and let the soothing sounds of the waves wash away your worries.

Whatever you choose to do, prioritise self-care. For further inspiration, there are some great tips and resources below.

Engage in activities to improve mental wellbeing

Engaging in activities that interest you is an easy way to improve your mental wellbeing and build resilience. Plus, your mind and body will benefit from the release of feel-good chemicals, like endorphins and serotonin, that will lift your mood, increase energy levels, and even improve your sleep.

Participating in an activity doesn't have to be a chore and the options are endless. You might like to join ParkRun, try gardening, buy a colouring-in book, or take a hike with friends.

Make time for an activity each week to create a healthier relationship with your mind and body.
