Just six days after the New Year celebration, Indonesia, the world's third-biggest democracy, will hold the third round of live debate for presidential candidates running for February's election. Three presidential candidates - former Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan, sitting Defence Minister and former nemesis of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo in the previous presidential elections, Prabowo Subianto and former Central Java governor Ganjar Pranowo will discuss topics surrounding foreign policy, security and defence, as well as geopolitics. The Conversation Indonesia will live fact-check statements from candidates with our expert panels. We will share the fact-check analysis on our social media during the debate. So, stay tuned! Warmest, Ika Krismantari
To anticipate the proliferation of misinformation and disinformation during the campaign, The Conversation Indonesia (TCID) has set up a fact-checking expert panel of our authors. Recently, the initiative has received support from The Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) with a grant from the Open Society Foundation to collaborate with two other reputable media - Tempo and Kompas - to amplify the project's impact. If you are an academic or researcher, you can join the panel by registering via this link.
