Out From The Mist competition opening soon

Out From The Mist is an international competition that celebrates photography, short films, and music, providing a powerful platform for those with lived experiences of mental illness. When words fall short, images and music become vibrant conduits for expression.

This competition is open to photographers, musicians, and short filmmakers who wish to explore their own experiences or those of someone close to them. Whether you are a professional or an amateur, all stories are valid and welcome.

For more information and entry conditions, please visit the website.

The competition runs from July 1st to August 30th, with the awards night being held on World Mental Health Day, October 10th, in Brisbane.

A bigger and better Recovered Futures Art Exhibition

After a two-month application period, artwork submissions for the 2024 Recovered Futures Art Exhibition have now closed. With an impressive number of submissions received, the 2024 exhibition is shaping up to be both a visually striking and diverse collection, and a vital catalyst for conversation around mental health, recovery and wellbeing.

The exhibition team looks forward to bringing you sneak peeks of the artwork and heartfelt artist stories over the coming months, along with what to expect on-the-ground during the weeklong exhibition!

The iconic event will be here before you know it, so mark your calendars for 4-10 October in King George Square!

Walk For Awareness

The Walk For Awareness is happening again on Sunday October 6th 2024! The Walk For Awareness, run by the Mental Awareness Foundation is a time to come together as a community to celebrate life and remember those we’ve lost. We believe that matters surrounding suicide should be discussed, not hidden. So, take One Step At a Time with the MAF community on a 9km walk for mental health, starting at the lovely Captain Burke Park in Kangaroo Point. If you can’t join in person, there is also a virtual walk so people from all over Australia can walk for what they believe in.

Registrations are now open for the event — register now.

You can also read the FAQs and donate.

Men's mental health

Although we all go through difficult times in life, men and women can experience and react to these situations differently. Research shows that men are less likely to seek support for mental health issues and are less likely to disclose a mental health problem to friends or family.

As part of Men's Health Week, which ran from June 10-16, Lifeline has put together some resources to help support men's mental health.
