CHS: Inspiring girls to discover and pursue their personal exellence.

Dear Alumnae,

We here at Crofton House have been using the summer to prepare for a busy fall, which includes many events and volunteering opportunities for alumnae, including the 125th Celebration in November, the Career Conference, and different alumnae socials.

Crofton House would like to thank the Legatt Family for their generous contribution to the restoration of The Woods, which will help ensure that they continue to be a place of joy and happiness for the many CHS students to come.

We would also like to thank Marc Stewart for his passion and dedication to The Woods restoration, including reintroducing native plants, growing new trees, and helping to clean and remove invasive species from the area.

Marc took the opportunity to share the importance of preserving The Woods with Grade 2 students, teaching them about what makes the environment so special to both Crofton and the neighborhood.

Under Marc's guidance, the restoration of The Woods has also become a community project with numerous volunteers assisting in the clean-up of the area – to all those who participated we would like to extend our sincere thanks.

A number of alumnae have come back on campus through the CHS alumane tour initiative. If you are interested in organizing a tour of Crofton House please reach out alumnae@croftonhouse.ca to book yours.

Olivia Huang '00 made time to visit the campus with her family while visiting Vancouver from Taiwan. Tina Zhang '08 and her partner visited the school while visiting from London, England.

Crofton House School hosted a number of reunions for different graduating classes over the past few months, to great success. Alum gathered at the school to connect with friends, reunite with old classmates and reminisce about their time at CHS.

We are currently organizing reunions for the Class of 1992 and 2018. If you know of alumnae from these classes who have not received information on these reunions, please consider reaching out to them so they can contact alumnae@croftonhouse.ca and provide CHS with an updated and current email address for communications.

If you are interested in booking a reunion for your Graduating Class please reach out to alumnae@croftonhouse.ca for more details.

We are looking for alumnae mentors to share their experiences through two different volunteering opportunities.

November 1, 2023 - Career Conference: this virtual event invites alumnae to share with the senior school students their career path with Senior School students. Volunteering involves a brief 45-minute presentation followed by a Q&A from students.

Work Experience Program (WEP): This non-paid work experience helps CHS students in Grade 11 and 12 gain insight into the careers of alumnae and explore different types of vocations while testing their passions and interests.

If interested in participating in these events or if you are looking for more information, please reach out at alumnae@croftonhouse.ca for details.

Congratulations to alumnae Paige Turnbull '18 and Charlotte Kalla '19, pictured here with fellow co-founder Jessica Milum, who won first place at the Gustavson Business Start-Up Competition for their business, Club Cosmo. The women offer a subscription service that delivers curated activity boxes filled with an activity, snacks, and cocktail pairings. The co-founders presented to a panel of judges at the University of Victoria and received a significant grant along with 10 hours of coaching from the panel. Charlotte and Paige are grateful for the opportunity and are also aware of the knowledge that exists within the alumnae community. If you would like to connect with Charlotte and Paige to provide mentoring, please reach out to alumnae@croftonhouse.ca.

It is always great to see alumnae staying connected, no matter how long it is after graduating. This is why it was fantastic to hear about the class of '73s, Pamela Wright, Marion Dawson, with Paddington, Jane Cromie, Tanyss Annable, Cathy Kershaw and Janey Pocock.
