No images? Click here July 2024 Fire Rebuilding Lessons Live On in Rural Oregon Lomakatsi Restoration Project works to bring more fire resilience to the landscape. Even as first responders were fighting wildfires in the fall of 2020, Oregon foundations were figuring out how to help communities rebuild. The result was the $10.8 million Community Rebuilding Fund, a partnership of OCF, The Ford Family Foundation, Meyer Memorial Fund and the American Red Cross. That year's especially devastating fires are fading into memory but the impact lives on in rural Oregon. The lessons learned help make communities more resilient and help grantmakers like OCF and its generous donors to act faster after disasters. Read more here. Strengthening 'Conexiones' to Build Wealth for Latino/x Communities Latino/x leaders and thinkers from around Oregon gathered in Lincoln City to talk about how to remove barriers to homeownership and entrepreneurship in their communities. Panel discussions included finding ways to reduce the wealth gap in Oregon. New research shows Latino/x households have lower net worth and are less likely to own a home compared to all Oregonians. Yet, their workforce participation is significantly higher. Learn more here.
