Research News Roundup - September 2023

The Office of Research and the Office of Graduate Education have merged. As the Office of Research & Graduate Education (OOR & GE) our services to the campus community will continue, the people you know are still here, but we are now working under one roof in Von Neumann Hall. A warm welcome to our new colleagues of the Office of Graduate Education!

Highlights of this month’s newsletter include a brief bio of our newest OOR & GE team member, OOR announcements, updates, events, and news from Leatherby Libraries. Be sure to read the entire newsletter to be entered into our September raffle!

Kris Edmonds, Pre and Post Award Research Administrator, comes to us from The University of Arizona where she served as a Grant and Contract Analyst for the Pre-Award Sponsored Projects.  She enjoys spending time in the Sonoran Desert hiking with her daughter and their dogs, exploring new restaurants, and going to the movies.

NSF Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) Program

The NSF Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) Program has an upcoming due date of October 16, 2023 – November 15, 2023.

No Cost-Match needed! Due to the CHIPS and Science ACT the cost-match that is usually required has been waived for the next 5 years.

This is a limited institutional submission – no more than two (2) for Track 1, no more than one (1) for Track 2, and no more than one (1) for Track 3. Chapman could potentially submit four proposals in total.

Limited institutional submission requires prior review and approval from the Office of Research and Graduate Education. Send a Letter of Intent including MRI Track number, team members and general description of project to sps@chapman.edu by September 22nd.

For more information, join one of NSF’s MRI virtual townhall webinars on September 14th or 15th. Prior registration is required.
