Update #3

This is our last update before we head into the new year!

Hi friend

We know it's the time of year that our brains start to get lost in the silly season, but before that happens we have one last important update for you about Victoria's Pride 2023!

Save the date in your calendar! We'll be hosting a Trader's Zoom on Wednesday January 11, 5:30pm to 6:30pm. This will be an opportunity for local businesses to ask questions about Victoria's Pride a month ahead of the event.

Follow this link to Join Zoom Meeting

We look forward to seeing you all soon. In the meantime, you can always contact Helen our Precinct Liaison and Stalls Coordinator with any thing you're unsure of on 0493575654

Update about Tactile Tours at Victoria's Pride

This year we are engaging Vitae Veritas to curate and deliver a Tactile Cultural Tour during Vic Pride.

What is a Tactile Tour? For people who are blind or have low vision, touch is a powerful and fast way to perceive, form and/or complete mental pictures of an object, person or environment and the experience has often been described to be like 'seeing with our hands'.

Tactile tours are available to people who are blind or have low vision to equitably access and enjoy arts and cultural events in theatres, galleries, museums and public spaces.

At Vic Pride 2023, a trained guide will journey around different physical spaces (indoors and outdoors) to understand; dimension, layout and scale; interact with different objects to feel shape, texture and weight; and have the opportunity to meet with different people discussing their work, goods, sharing stories and knowledge. They are super fun!

If you are interested in your business being involved, please let us know.

Think about:

- What would be an interesting or engaging to experience through touch, smell, taste or a story?

- How can your business provide access indoors or outdoors for the small group attending?

If your business is been selected as part of the tour, it is likely that each segment would only require about 10 minutes and Vitae Veritas will connect with you to support any preparation.

If you have any questions about Tactile Tours, please don't hesitate to contact the Victoria's Pride team at vicpride@midsumma.org.au - we're here to help!

Liquor Licensing

Does your business serve alcohol? Midsumma will be encouraging attendees to visit local businesses for their beverages.

Your regular liquor license conditions will be in place unless you request a variation for the event day. If eligible, now is a good time to apply to the VGCCC for a temporary General License if you plan on providing take-away options - it is recommended to lodge an application eight weeks in advance.

To apply, download and complete the General License application kit below. All details on how to lodge your completed application are included in the kit.

Don't miss the chance to be in our Trader Directory

Don't forget to submit to feature in our online trader directory! This is to help highlight local businesses in and around the event precinct and also communicate anything special that your business might be doing to celebrate!

This could be special offers, promotion of outdoor seating as ‘front row’ viewing, pride décor; or interactive shop front displays.

If you'd like your business to be listed, please complete the form at the link below. We can update your listing later, but ask that you submit an initial listing by Monday 9th January.

We recommend you share this email with your staff, and if you have any questions, suggestions or ideas, please don't hesitate to contact the Victoria's Pride team at vicpride@midsumma.org.au - we're here to help!
