Regional and Rural clinicIn an ongoing effort to improve access to care and support diabetes management for our regional and rural families, we are now allocating time for extra support in the form of Telehealth. These appointments will be accessible from your home. Patient reported outcomesBased on feedback, the PCH Diabetes Clinical team will be rolling out some new measures (surveys) for people with T1D in our clinics in 2023. The surveys will help provide a framework to support discussing your experiences with the clinical team. Patient portalOur team has started work on a patient portal and we would like to know what's important to you. Find out more about our new project, DiabHQ, to integrate diabetes data so that it can be used more effectively by patients and families, clinicians and researchers. Oral insulin studyOur researchers would like to find out whether oral insulin is useful in type 1 diabetes management and is safe for use in individuals with T1D. We are looking for participants aged 16 – 25 years to be involved in the 12-week study. Exercise measures studyOur researchers need your help to develop a questionnaire that we can use in clinic to measure & understand the types of physical activity, young people with T1D are involved in. Hypo awareness studyDo you know when your blood glucose levels are going low? If not, our researchers need you! We want to see if introducing a home-based exercise program can improve hypo awareness. Congrats to our researchersCongratulations to our researchers Dr Shaun Teo and Dr Paul Fournier who have both been awarded $70,000 grants for their diabetes research projects, under the 2023 Diabetes Australia Research Program. Holiday funOur friends at the Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre invite you to take part in their family fun events these school holidays.
