As is customary, the second issue of a CILJ volume reflects the theme of the annual conference. The theme of the 14th Annual CILJ Conference, was ‘Navigating a multipolar world: challenges to the post-WWII status quo of international law’. Marking the 80th anniversary of the United Nations (UN) Charter, this theme offered an opportunity to reflect on the contemporary international legal order and its effectiveness in addressing emerging challenges. This theme also invites us to consider whether the UN legal order still holds its promise of upholding the Westphalian system, a question often repeated amongst international lawyers. We hope you enjoy reading this issue. Marno Swart and Renatus Otto Franz Derler Editors-in-Chief
