Dear Friends,
So many things have happened since the last time we talked. Where does one begin?
It's with deep sadness I share the news of my sister Diane, who was my absolute biggest cheerleader and best friend on this planet passed away unexpectedly March 25. It honestly stopped my entire world, my heart broke into a million pieces, and it was one of the worst days I can remember. She was my person, my sister, confidant and the one who could make you laugh no matter the occasion. My daily call to her (sometimes 2-3 times a day) would include a recap of every inch of everything Posies, from the most exciting to the most basic. She LOVED this business and would tell me over and over how proud she was of me.
I share this with you because I want to be real, give the good and bad. Running a business like Posies takes so much passion, brain power, organization, and management. My Posies team stepped in when I couldn't and my daughter Madison who is by my side had the strength to take over the reins. She made sure our Easter week went off without a hitch, and the Sarasota Grand Opening was ever so successful, despite having also just lost her favorite aunt. Our Posies People jumped in and made sure we didn't skip a beat. I'm forever grateful.
Despite great sadness, the one thing I have learned with this special business, happiness can be found around every single corner and my sister knew this. She always told me to "enjoy the ride" which is just so fitting. She would be happy to hear that Easter week was epic, we met the most amazing people, attended fantastic events and just brought the Spring feeling to reality. The Sarasota launch was successful, and it just meant the world to have met that goal, she was so excited for this monumental moment. My sister loved and supported the South Florida Doberman Rescue and what a surprise to find a Doberman sitting at the front of "Wildflower" during the Sarasota Posies Flower Truck launch while at UTC the entire evening.
We do plan on honoring her with a special Posies event, ideas are in the works. She would want me to continue to bloom with this business and would pinch my arm like only a big sister could do if she found me wavering in her absence. More to follow on her special tribute event, which will probably include lots of free flowers and a tie to her beloved Doberman rescue.
