No images? Click here Hi Friend, SUDEP Action Day and Walk for Epilepsy Double Donation Day Today, let’s take a moment to remember those affected by SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy). It’s a serious and often overlooked risk associated with epilepsy, where a person dies suddenly and prematurely without any clear cause. While the exact reasons for SUDEP are still not fully understood, researchers have identified certain risk factors that can increase its likelihood. The good news is that there are steps that can be taken to reduce these risks, and raising awareness is key. SUDEP Action Day is dedicated to encouraging people with epilepsy, their families, and health professionals to actively discuss the risks of SUDEP. By increasing awareness and understanding, we can help address care gaps and take steps towards saving lives. SUDEP affects approximately 1 in 1,000 adults with epilepsy and 1 in 4,500 children, underscoring the need for greater awareness and proactive action. Now, as we continue the final stretch of this year's Walk4Epilepsy campaign, we’re excited to share an incredible opportunity to double your impact. With less than 10 days left in the campaign, we are nearing our fundraising goal, and your support can help push us over the line. Thanks to the generous support of our major partner, Nexon, and other supporting partners, all donations made this Thursday will be doubled! This is a fantastic opportunity to reach or exceed your fundraising targets while making an even bigger difference for people living with epilepsy. Here’s how it works:
Every donation made will help ensure that individuals, families, schools, and workplaces receive the epilepsy information, support, education, and training they need. Your contribution will have a direct impact on enhancing epilepsy care and awareness in our communities. Let’s seize this chance to double the support and increase awareness about epilepsy and SUDEP. Spread the word—encourage your family, friends, and colleagues to donate this Thursday and maximize their impact. Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by epilepsy and help drive essential research and support services. Thank you for your continued dedication to Walk4Epilepsy 2024, and for joining us in raising awareness about SUDEP on this important day. Let’s make these final days count and exceed our goals together. Warm Regards Paul Quilliam, CEO Epilepsy Tasmania. It's not too late to register for the 2024 Walk for Epilepsy.
