Community garden in the Regeneration Area

Welcome

The Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor has the real potential to be the jewel in our city’s crown – it’s already a beautiful place to visit and experience, and we want to make it even more accessible for more people.
We also have an opportunity to improve the ecology and environment, providing wider benefit across the city.
While this is the Council’s first newsletter, much work and activity has been occurring in the area over the past few years.  There are already many community-led projects, including gardens, native planting, events and activities that bring people together.
The Council’s role is to support and grow these activities, and provide the necessary public infrastructure along the entire river corridor. We look forward to your ideas and involvement.

-Brendan Anstiss, General Manager of Strategy and Transformation
