September 2023 Newsletter
Dear Women's Auxiliary Board, University Hill has been a busy place for the past four weeks! It was great to see many of you (over 310) who attended and supported the Yellow Ribbon Luncheon on September 6! It was such a special time looking back at what the Lord has done, is doing, and will continue to do through Dr. and Mrs. Wright as they celebrate their 7-year anniversary as President and First Lady of DBU. Miss Olivia Mitchell, DBU senior and
2-time NCAA Women's Golf Champion, spoke about why she chose to attend Dallas Baptist University. (There's a great photo of Olivia and her DBU coach, Kenny Trapp, below.) Many thanks to committee chair, Candy Dowd, and new students chair, Leigh Gettman-Allen, for providing leadership and welcoming everyone last week. The fun and laughter we had still makes me smile. It was a beautiful day, and we hope you will all come back and bring your friends to the DBU Women's Auxiliary Board fall events. Scroll through to see highlights from the luncheon, as well as dates and details for all of the ways to be involved at DBU this coming season!

DBU Leadership Gala
Monday, November 6
Chantilly Ballroom, Hilton Anatole Hotel
7:00 PM Since 1898, DBU has produced servant leaders whose hearts desire is to transform the world and strengthen their communities. To that end, DBU seeks to honor those whose lives reflect the values that the University holds dear. The annual DBU Leadership Gala seeks to honor individuals who use their God-given talents and abilities to excel in their chosen field of work and whose lives are testimonies of achievements in free enterprise and service to the community through the Russell H. Perry Free Enterprise Award and the Tom Landry Leadership Award.
The 2023 Russell H. Perry Free Enterprise Award will be presented to Jim and Sally Nation, and the 2023 Tom Landry Leadership Award will be presented to Bob Lilly. Ladies - We need your help in supporting scholarships through the DBU Leadership Gala! DBU All-University Prayer Requests Fall Break Trips, October 2 - 6, 2023: Please pray for our three Fall Break trips. There will be an academic trip to London led by Dr. David Cook, Dr. Cicely Jefferson, Dr. Jodi
Grimes, and H. Rick Jordan. Dr. Ross O'Brien is leading a group to study the business of coffee in Hawaii. There is also a mission trip to Dominican Republic led by Shelby Weatherly. Please pray for safe travels for each of these groups. Please also pray that these trips will foster a love for learning and help develop a deeper love for the Lord in each of our students. Admissions: On October 9, Admissions is hosting a Patriot Preview. We will have hundreds of guests on campus to see first-hand the significance of a Christian education at DBU. Pray that the Lord will give clarity to these potential students and their parents as they consider God's plan for their future. Athletics: DBU student-athletes are very busy in October. Please pray for their safety and for the Lord to give them opportunities to display Christian sportsmanship as they compete to the best of their
abilities. Also pray for God to move in students’ hearts at this luncheon.

University, 3000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
Women's Auxiliary Board Scholarship Recipient - Mollie Henderson
Thanks to the generosity of so many of you wonderful women, we are able to award scholarships to many students in need. This fall, Mollie-Nan Henderson was one of the students who received a $3,000 gift from the Women's Auxiliary Board Scholarship Fund. You can read more about Mollie's beautiful story below: "Hello, I'm Mollie-Nan Henderson, a 20-year-old sophomore from Hillsboro, Texas. I am proud to be a first-generation Christian and college student, with a passion for education, volleyball, and serving
my community. I come from a tight-knit, low-income family of seven, where I am the youngest of five children. As an infant, I was fostered alongside my half-brother, but it only strengthened my resolve to succeed. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand the importance of hard work and perseverance due to my family struggling day to day. I am currently pursuing my dream of becoming a 4th-8th grade English Language Arts and
Reading teacher and a volleyball coach. My college journey at Dallas Baptist University
has been both rewarding and challenging, and I am determined to break down barriers for future generations in my family." Your generosity has eternal impacts, and I am forever thankful for each of your hearts to serve our students through giving. Stay tuned next month to meet another scholarship recipient!
