Unplanned Good raises awareness about adoption as a healthy option for women facing unplanned pregnancies. We emphasize the importance of care & support for the brave women who create adoption plans for their babies.

Happy St Patrick's Day to All!

Our focus remains on 1) increasing awareness of open adoption as an option for women facing unplanned pregnancy, and 2) supporting the brave women who choose adoption, then choose parents, for their babies. Those two goals underscore all we do.
Fewer than 1% of the 2.8 million US women facing unplanned pregnancies each year choose adoption. We believe that more education and improved birth mother care are key to ensure that women have all the information and support they need. With that, we think more women will choose adoption.

Dr Christina Frances kicks off last week's AAPLOG conference in Seattle, welcoming 325 OB/GYNs  and 68 medical students & residents in training.

AAPLOG, Reaching OB/GYNs

This month, Terri and Board members Sydney Curtin and Jen Nazarowski attended the annual conference of the American Association of ProLife OB/GYNs in Seattle. AAPLOG is the premier professional association of women's health doctors and caregivers. Their fabulous speakers are always an education! Here's a link to the conference, scroll down for the agenda. It was great to share our love of adoption with the doctors there, and fun to see them in agreement with our message!

Thanks to your support, Unplanned Good hosted a table there so we could talk with OB/GYNs about adoption.

We greatly appreciate this chance to work with AAPLOG and hope these conversations will lead to more OB/GYNs talking with their patients more effectively about adoption.

Our BLOG on the AAPLOG Site
Reaching OB/GYNs

Terri was invited to submit an article to AAPLOG for their site. Our blog, "Should We be Talking More About Adoption?", published right before the conference. We hope it will reach a large number of OBGYNs in a position to mention adoption.
You can read the blog here on the AAPLOG web site.

Adoption Highlighted as an Option !

A SuperBowl Commercial this Year brought Adoption to the National Stage!

At last month's Super Bowl LX, you saw the TV spot produced by our friends at the Opt Institute. If you missed it, you can watch here.  We applaud this effort and appreciate that it has sparked some great conversations, long after the game is over.

Great work, Anne & Bill!
and great work, RealOptions!

March for Life in San Jose

This month we supported our local pregnancy center, Real Options by hosting a table at the Walk for Life.

Our Board Member Anne Steeley, and her husband, Bill,  helped spread the word about adoption as an option with everyone who came by our table. There's Anne, passionately sharing about adoption with one of the walkers.

Here's a link to learn more about Real Options.

Update: The Third Option

Unplanned Good was at HHS in DC to talk about "The Third Option" -- starting state-level programs to improve adoption education and birth mother care/support. We greatly appreciate the Assistant Secretary's heart for this matter!  Idaho is the first Third Option State, and we are working now to define the Birth Mother Care/Support programs that we want to recommend to Idaho's Dept of Health & Welfare. Idaho is the "pilot program" and there are 16 other States that want to follow our lead and become Third Option States.

New Podcast!

Recently Terri was invited back to the Spirit Mornings show to talk with Jen Brown and Damian Montez.  We explored why we are so passionate about adoption education in the school health ed classes.
Our segment starts at 14.28

Utah Legislature Advances HB 51

Congratulations to our friends Ashley Mitchell and Kelsey Vander Vliet Ranyard, two birth mothers, adoption professionals, and adoption advocates who care deeply about raising the ethical standards for practices in private adoption. They worked with Representative Katy Hall to get HB 51 through the legislature to improve adoption practices in Utah.
Their bill passed in both the House and the Senate, we're hoping to see the Utah Governor sign it this week.

Now Offering a short, 90-minute Online Adoption Training to PRCs!

Adoption training enables counselors to speak confidently with patients about today's open adoption. Last year, after our PRC in California held a training, adoption referrals went from 7 in 2024 to 29 in 2025, a huge increase(!) Our talks with PRCs showed that they want a short training, delivered online.
In December, we conducted training at a pregnancy resource center (PRC) in Idaho, helping staff to start conversations about adoption. Since this "bite-sized" training was so well-received, we are now offering it to PRCs across the country. It's a 60 minute presentation plus 30-minutes of Q&A.

If women get ALL the info about ALL their options, more will choose adoption. We look forward to reaching more clinics with these sessions.

Put our Adoption Flyers in your PRC Clinics

Our Board Member, Jen Nazarowski, works with the Wellbeing Services & Resources at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma WA.  She provided them with flyers for their clinic, explaining adoption to women who might be facing an unplanned pregnancy.
Flyers courtesy of Unplanned Good.
If your clinic needs flyers (or bookmarks or books for your waiting room), just ask!

A Word about our Speaking Engagements

We never know where the next opportunity will come from but Terri is always honored and welcomes speaking invitations. We happily accept speaking opportunities before regardless of "pro life" or "pro choice" perspectives - there's always new info to share and receive. Just like the books below, we engage in discussion with everyone.
