A Future-Ready Focus: Shifting Our Educational Worldview

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Education now and into the future is primarily about building capability, adaptability, and strategic national capacity. The world our students are entering is fundamentally different from the one we grew up in, driven by rapid technological advancements and shifting geopolitical landscapes.

Our school is proactively adapting its educational philosophy to ensure that students are not just prepared for standardized tests but are truly future-ready.

The Shift in Approach: From Current Trends to Strategic Imperatives

We are deliberately moving away from educational approaches that prioritize narrow outcomes and are embracing a worldview that values complexity and global interconnectedness. Here is an example of how our focus is evolving:

Embracing the New World

Our goal is to prepare students to navigate a world shaped by global systems and technological frontiers. We are shifting from teaching discipline-specific critical thinking to fostering its application across all domains, ensuring students can manage real-world complexity. Rather than focusing narrowly on national values, we are cultivating geopolitical literacy—the ability to understand global interactions and their implications.

By emphasizing capability and adaptability as primary social goals, we ensure every student develops the resilience and skills needed to thrive in any future scenario. This strategic approach provides your child with a robust foundation that goes far beyond traditional academics.

We look forward to partnering with you on this exciting journey, equipping your child with the skills to lead and succeed in this dynamic new era.

New Policy: Advance Payment for Activities and Excursions

Starting this year, all contributions for children’s activities and excursions must be paid in advance. This ensures that we can organize events smoothly and provide the best experience for every child.

Children whose payments have not been received unfortunately may not be able to attend these activities.

If you would like to set up a payment plan, please contact the school office for assistance. We are happy to help make arrangements that work for your family.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

CPS Choir Rehearsals Begin!

Our CPS Choir rehearsals start Friday, 20 February 2026 at lunchtime! The choir is a fantastic opportunity for students to sing, learn new songs, make friends, and have fun.

The choir is open to all students from Years 1–6, with rehearsals held every Friday before school, 7:45–8:15 am, in the music room.

This year, on 21 August, our choir students from Years 3–6 will perform at the One Big Voice festival at RAC Arena alongside hundreds of WA primary schools—a spectacular showcase of inspiring and uplifting songs. Students must be signed up at the start of the year to participate. More information is available at www.onebigvoice.com.au.

All choir students, Years 1–6, will have additional performance opportunities throughout the year. Parents are welcome to attend a rehearsal if their child would like to try it out.

For questions, please contact CPS Music Teacher Mr Grant Welch at grant.welch@education.wa.edu.au.

Term 1 - Tennis

After-school kids programs at Mt Lawley and North Perth Tennis Clubs start Monday. All before-school @Schools tennis lessons begin the following week on Monday 9 Feb.

All players have been automatically re-enrolled from Term 4 to Term 1. If you do not plan to continue, please email me ASAP so I can remove you from classes and avoid an invoice. During the first 1–2 weeks, coaches will review groups and may move some juniors if needed. Most players progress together, and there’s no rush to move up ball colours developing skills at the right level is key (even Kyrgios played red ball until age 9).

Term 1 invoices will be emailed later this week. All Lesson & Play groups will have winner and runner-up trophies based on points/games accumulated over the term.
