What are the characteristics of wise people? The 34 researchers from around the world who studied how wisdom is perceived didn't get the answers they expected. It's generally believed that wisdom is seen differently in different cultures. But across 12 countries and five continents, people mostly agreed on this idea. Maksim Rudnev and Veli Mitova explain their findings.
Archaeogenetics - the study of ancient genomes, or sets of DNA - sheds light on the history of living people and the movements of populations. Researchers have now generated the oldest genome from southern Africa, from the skeletal remains of individuals who lived 10,000 years ago. Victoria Gibbon, Joscha Gretzinger and Stephan Schiffels share their findings from a rock shelter in a valley with a long history.
