ARTS NEWSLETTER August 2012

Greetings all,
I have been busy visiting visual artists throughout our region and urging them to sign up to join the new Central Otago Arts Trail. This is a major project for the Arts Trust and my tripping around has been an uplifting experience. Driving up dirt roads, getting lost, and then finding who I'm looking for. Seeing the work spaces of creative people is always such a treat for me. I love to hear their stories; enjoy finding out how things are going for them and am privileged to see their latest work. I am constantly blown away with the vibrant energy our artists have. We will have the Arts Trail all ready to go by October
with a shiny new brochure and webpage. Pat Hewitt’s retrospective exhibition ‘A Life in Fabric’ is a ‘must see’ and this wonderful display of her skill and passion is on at the Russell Henderson Art Gallery during the month of August. I went along to the opening last Friday and I was amazed - so this month’s header is a photo I took of Pat's grand daughter, Hannah Bendle from Wanaka, looking at one of her grandmother's beautiful quilts.
We are also holding the Annual General Meeting of the Art Trust in August and everyone is most welcome. Find out more about this meeting as well as all manner of interesting things to do in Central listed below.
Enjoy August!
