2023 by the Numbers
Surplus lines premium statistics for 2023 are in. Total premium was $15.4 billion, which is 27.83% more than in 2022. What a year!

July of 2023 saw the most significant jump in premium at 49.02%, whereas September saw only a slight increase at 0.84%.
Policy count wavered throughout the year but ultimately squeaked past 2022 with a 1.25% increase.
Interestingly, new business rose by 9.01%, while renewals declined by 3.91%.
Commercial Property and Commercial General Liability led the charge with $6.2 billion and $2.1 billion, respectively.
