Dear Parents and Carers,
It’s been a vibrant few weeks at Subiaco as we move further into Term 4. The classrooms are full of energy and teachers are assessing students and beginning to finalise their end of year reports. As we look toward the close of another exciting year at Subiaco, we have a shared commitment to supporting our students to be the best version of themselves possible.
As part of this, we continue to focus on the Core Habits that help our students grow academically, socially and emotionally. These habits include developing personal responsibility such as staying organised and completing tasks on time and social responsibility, like showing respect and being a good classmate.
-
Show respect: Greet teachers and classmates, listen when others speak, and follow classroom rules.
-
Be helpful: Share materials and assist new students.
-
Develop emotional intelligence: Learn to understand and manage feelings and develop a positive mindset.
We continue to do our best to support all students to succeed as we embed our whole-school approach to wellbeing.

Cyberbullying
While we continue to focus on developing positive habits and supporting student wellbeing, it is also important to address a matter that has recently come to our attention. We have recently been made aware of some inappropriate use of iPads and other devices after school hours, including messaging between students that involves unacceptable language. Please remember that this behaviour is considered cyberbullying. We kindly urge all parents and carers to monitor their child’s online activity and talk to them about responsible digital behaviour. A few simple safety measures can make a big difference at home:
-
Set clear boundaries for device use
-
Create device-free zones
-
Consider rules such as no devices in bedrooms
-
Switching off devices at least one hour before bedtime
-
urning screens off at dinner time and keeping devices charging overnight in a place children cannot access.
Working together, we can help keep all our students safe online.

Remembrance Day
This week, our Senior School Choir performed “Lest We Forget” at the Subiaco-Shenton Park RSL Sub-Branch Remembrance Day 2025 service, a solemn and important occasion marking the end of the First World War in 1918. It serves as a time for all Australians to honour and reflect on the bravery, sacrifice and resilience of those who served in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations across generations.

2026 Planning
As we begin to finalise our class structure and student placements for next year, we again ask for families to inform the school office if you are leaving the school as a matter of priority. It is also very important you keep your personal contact details, including your current address up to date with the school office. Please see further information outlined below.
Students Leaving Subiaco PS at the End of 2025
If your family is leaving Subiaco Primary School at the end of the year, please email as soon as possible to subiaco.ps@education.wa.edu.au (not required for 2025 Year 6 students). A Clearance Form is required to be completed so we can liaise with the destination school and complete required records.
Students Leaving Early 2025 / Arriving Late 2026
If your family is leaving early to go on holiday BEFORE the end of the Term 4 finish date of 18/12/2025, please advise the school in writing of your leave dates and return date for 2026.
If your family is going on holiday and starting back at school AFTER 2nd February 2026 please advise the school in writing of your leave dates and return date for 2026.
This can be done via email to subiaco.ps@education.wa.edu.au. Any queries can be directed to the Admin Office 9207 7900.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Thank You for Attending Our 1:1 Parent Info Sessions
We extend our sincere thanks to all families who attended our recent 1:1 Parent Information sessions. Your engagement and support are greatly appreciated.
A special thank you goes to Ms Gemma Hayley and Ms Jennie Richardson for generously sharing their insights during the session. Their presentation offered a thoughtful look into how they integrate iPads into their teaching and learning programs, striking a meaningful balance between digital tools and pedagogy.
In the coming week, updated information regarding device requirements and recommended apps will be available on our school website. We will also upload a recording of the session, including the teacher presentations and details about the support available at school to assist families and students in this transition.

Numero Grand Final
|
 |
|
On Thursday, four of our talented Year 5 and 6 students represented our school at the Interschool Numero Grand Final, held at St Jerome’s Primary School in Coogee. After triumphing in the North-West Heat against 17 other teams, the Subiaco Number Ninjas — Indi, Yoona, Tomo and Zayd — earned their place among the best young mathematicians in the state.
The atmosphere was buzzing with nervous excitement as 18 finalist teams from as far away as Geraldton, Kalgoorlie and Esperance gathered to test their skills and quick thinking. Competing across four challenging rounds, our students showed excellent focus, teamwork and problem-solving ability.
Although the Subiaco Number Ninjas didn’t place this time, they represented our school with pride, positivity and true sportsmanship. It was an outstanding achievement to reach the Grand Final in our very first year of competition, and we couldn’t be prouder of their effort, focus and determination. Congratulations, Ninjas — you’ve set the bar high for next year’s team!

Reminders
Birthday Celebrations
If your child’s birthday falls on a school day and you would like bring in a treat for the class, please consider healthy, nut free alternatives. Commercially bought, individual cup cakes are acceptable but due to our healthy eating policy we would rather parents not provide chocolates or lollies.
Student Absences
Enter an Attendance Note on Compass
A parent explanation is required for all student absences. Please enter this on Compass. Parent reminders will be emailed every Monday for any unexplained absences.
Updating School Records
If your address, telephone number or email address has changed, please contact the school office.
Publications Permission
Upon enrolment, parents decide whether to give consent for their child’s name, photo or work to be published in school newsletters, school related activities, promotional material for the Department of Education and articles for the West Australian and community newspapers. This consent continues for your child while enrolled at our school. If at any stage you want to change the permission status, then you will need to notify the office in writing.

Uniform Shop News
|
 |
|
Last week eight of the boys from U6 assisted in the Uniform Shop with the packing of gold polos. They were all very diligent and happy to spend time doing the job and especially keen to do the walk to the cardboard bin area!
Many thanks to all the students, at this busy time of year it is much appreciated!
The School Backpacks have arrived! Both the Small 16 litre and Large 23 litre Backpacks are now available in the Uniform Shop.
Small backpacks are $55 and the large size are $65. Please visit the Uniform Shop or order online for delivery to your child’s classroom.
For the parents of students entering Year Six in 2026, the Year Six Polos are available for purchase for $35, ranging in size from 8 to 16. I highly recommend shopping now, so you can avoid the queues of customers leading into the start of Term One.
The Pre-loved Rack is very depleted of items. I am seeking gold polos in all sizes, maroon shorts in larger sizes, skorts in larger sizes and Kindy/Pre-primary polos. Please donate clean, good condition items so another child can enjoy wearing them. I am also seeking Backpacks; they must be in good condition with working zippers and unstained. If the items are not suitable, please dispose of them as I cannot accept inferior items. Thank You!
I have had the pleasure of meeting many students who are starting Year One in 2026. It is important to remember your child needs a chair bag; these are used from Year One through to Year Three. Chair bags are $15 and available in the shop or can be ordered online. shop.subiprimarypc.com.au

Matchmaking for your stuff - a guide to rehome, repair and recycle
Not everything sells on the day of your garage sale, and that's okay. There are heaps of ways to make sure your unsold treasures still find a good home.
Rehoming, repairing or recycling your things keeps useful materials in circulation and out of landfill. They can also help local charities and support your community.
So let’s keep the good stuff going.
Clothing & textiles
Still in good nick?

Try a clothes swap with friends or give away items for free on Facebook Marketplace, Gumtree or Buy Nothing groups.
-
Sell high value items online through Depop or eBay.
Need a bit of love?
-
Mend small tears or missing buttons yourself, or visit a local Repair Café or alterations shop.
-
Darn socks, patch jeans or add fun embellishments to give items a new look.
Too worn out to wear?
-
Check with your council for textile recycling events and services.
-
