A space where we can see and experience the wonderful and diverse stories of our LGBTQIA+ communities. This year, after being apart for so long, more than ever we are feeling the significance of community connection. It's with great pride that we're officially present to you the Midsumma Festival 2021 Program. After a wonderful Program Launch hosted at the Malthouse Outdoor Stage last night, we've released our 17-day program for Midsumma Festival 2021, which features an explosion of LGBTQIA+ excellence across a wide variety of art forms, performance styles and event types. Although Midsumma Festival 2021 might look a bit different this year, rest assured that we're dedicated as always to bring you an exciting, diverse and safe festival that celebrates the resilience and creativity of the LGBTQIA+ community. Midsumma Festival Live at the Bowl tickets available now!We've just released the first round of free tickets for Midsumma Festival Live at the Bowl. Midsumma Festival Live at the Bowl will host a soirée of FREE queer live entertainment across the two nights, in the second week of the 17-day festival. Hosted at the iconic Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Friday 30 April and Saturday 1 May, this event will celebrate diverse journeys and communities through a spectacular line-up of live performance, comedy and music. The concert will also be live-streamed from the Midsumma Festival Facebook page, so you can soak up the queer excellence no matter where you are. We will release a second round of tickets on 9 April! Tickets are FREE but strictly limited, so make sure you grab yours now. Your Midsumma Presents Events for 2021Midsumma Presents is Midsumma's producing arm of the festival, where we collaborate with outstanding artists and cultural institutions from Victoria and around the world. It's intersectional, it's vibrant and it brings people together. PRISM, part of the Midsumma Presents series, is this year's focused highlight - designed especially for queer families. She wants to show you who she meets and what she sees. She wants you to know what it’s like to live in the in-between. An immersive performance. 20 - 24 April, The Substation Disco InstamaticYou’re invited to step inside an innovative, glittering and glamorous reimagining of a music video. Don't miss out on Blankë Pop, a neon caba-rave day party for the freaks, the geeks, the misfits and the queers. Happening 2 May. More program highlightsRichmond Lawn BowlsCelebrating Pride in Sport! The Richmond Union Bowling Club (RUBC) is partnering with Pride Cup and several local lawn bowls clubs to put together a day of bowls, food, and fun! RUBC welcomes bowlers and non bowlers of all ages to the club so this will be a family friendly event. The day will consist of exhibition matches, a trophy presentation and a sausage with all proceeds going to an LGBTQIA+ charity. 2 May, Richmond Union Bowling Club, free entry Low Brows and High HopesAn online exhibition, zine and outdoor projection by artist Willow Franklin and poet Zoe Kingsley, in collaboration with Queer in Kingston and Connect, two social support service groups for LGBTQIA+ young people living in Kingston. Over a series of workshops, the artists and young people have come together to explore the idea of ‘lowbrow art’, inspired by key social and pop-culture movements in visual arts and literature. 21 April - 29 May, online digital event 24 hrs |
