Come along to the Avonside Drive stopping drop-in session

As part of the ongoing development of the Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor, Christchurch City Council is proposing to stop some sections of Avonside Drive (pictured above after rain) and Kerrs Road that go through the regeneration area.

To find out more about the road stopping and the City to Sea Pathway, come along to our drop-in session at the Avon Rowing Clubrooms, Kerrs Rd, on Monday 20 September between 6pm and 7:30pm.

Officially ‘stopping’ roads doesn’t mean they’re automatically closed to all traffic. You’ll still be able to use the roads until we’re ready to start constructing the City to Sea Pathway.

Construction begins on Dallington landing

Work is under way to transform an area of the Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor into a new community picnic area.
Carrying a theme of “a picnic in the forest”, the Dallington riverside landing next to Gayhurst Road will be the first of a number of landings that will be built along the Ōtākaro Avon River.

Native plants transforming both red zone and students

Helping to populate Christchurch’s red zone with thousands of native plants has been life-changing for some of the students involved, according to Eco-Action facilitator David Newton.
The charitable organisation has planted 22,000 native plants and has now received a $61,400 Council grant to expand the operation.
