A Thanksgiving Reflection

As we pause for Thanksgiving, I’ve been reflecting on what truly defines Florida’s surplus lines marketplace, and it always comes back to the people. Every day, I’m reminded of the integrity, expertise, and steady commitment you bring to the clients and communities you serve. Because of you, our marketplace can meet the ever-changing, ever-evolving needs of Floridians.

That dedication may not always be visible, but it’s always felt. It’s the quiet, steady foundation that keeps our marketplace strong, and it’s something I’m deeply grateful for.

This year, as we approach the end of hurricane season on November 30, I think many of us are feeling the same quiet sense of relief. A season without major storms is rare in Florida, and it gives all of us (as both industry professionals and Floridians) a moment to breathe a little easier. It’s a reminder of how fortunate we are this year, and how the absence of disruption helps keep our market steady and our communities safe. We all have many reasons to be thankful.

As you gather with family and friends, I want to share my heartfelt thanks for the trust you place in FSLSO and for the partnership we’re fortunate to have with this community. It truly is an honor to support the work you do and to be part of an industry shaped by service and genuine professionalism.

Wishing you and your loved ones a warm, restful, and meaningful Thanksgiving.

Mark Shealy
Executive Director
