Seeking Feedback on Support for a
One-Year Extension of CIF

In March of 2023, a resolution was passed by the CIF Governance Committees, approving a 2023 full-year operations plan. The approval allowed for a consideration of a one-year extension, whereby CIF would continue operations into 2024 with a windup in the first six months of 2025.

The resolution directed CIF staff to gather feedback from stakeholders on:

  1. the need for a one-year extension of CIF operations into 2024, and
  2. specific activities/projects that would be needed under a CIF 2024 operations plan.

    Feedback Process

Beginning this month, CIF staff will solicit formal feedback from stakeholder groups (i.e., RPWCO, MWA, M3RC, AMO, City of Toronto, and TWG subcommittees) on the need for an extension as well as proposed 2024 activities/projects.

    • We encourage all communities to provide input to the stakeholder groups for which they are members.
    • If you are not a member of a stakeholder group, provide feedback directly to CIF staff.

Communities can review the DRAFT CIF One-Year Extension Process and Activities found on the Transition Portal.

We request stakeholders to email CIF with feedback regarding the support for a one-year extension, no later than 5 p.m. on July 28, 2023. Please cc RPRA.

      Feedback Summary & Report

In August, CIF will summarize stakeholder feedback and the level of support for a one-year extension in a preliminary report for the CIF Governance Committees.

Based on input from the Governance Committees, CIF staff will formulate a recommendation on the extension and present it for a final decision at the CIF Governance Committee meetings in September.

A bulletin, sharing the outcome of the decision, will be sent out to CIF stakeholders.
