National Association of Women in Construction International Women's Day eventDuring Women in Construction week, we teamed up with the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) in support of their International Women's Day event. Over 350 women from across the construction industry came together to celebrate the achievements of women in the sector, with an opening address from Infrastructure NSW Chief Executive Tom Gellibrand, as well as a debate on the gender pay gap. If you missed this opportunity, join us for a networking event at the Sydney Build Expo, full details below. Hard Work Knows No GenderIn December, we launched the Hard Work Knows No Gender campaign. Since then, we have visited a number of sites and workplace to brief construction workers and management on the campaign and the benefits of employing more women in trade and non-traditional roles. Celebrating success at Randwick Children’s HospitalAs part of the NSW Government’s Women in Construction Program, new female participation targets are being piloted on select project across the state. Dedicated Project Officers will work across the selected projects to assist in achieving the increased targets of 4 per cent women in trades (up from 2 per cent) and 7 per cent women in non-traditional construction roles. In March, Minister Whan and Minister Harrison visited one of the pilot projects - Sydney Children’s Hospital Stage 1 and Minderoo Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre – who have achieved their women in non-traditional target and are on track to achieve their women in trade target. Project Director Lizzie Cox and Project Officer Kasey Freckleton onsite at Randwick with Ministers Sydney Build Expo - networking eventNSW Women in Construction will be participating in the Sydney Build Expo at the International Convention Centre in May. Join us as we co-host a Women in Construction networking event with the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) from 4pm on Tuesday 2 May. The networking event is free to attend and all are welcome - please register your interest below. Industry Innovation ProgramApplications for Year 2 of our Industry Innovation Program are currently being assessed. We look forward to sharing the successful initiatives with you in July. Year 1 of the program saw 21 recipients share in $3.7 million worth of grants to encourage the participation and retention of women in the construction sector. Have you visited our LinkedIn page?
