SLIP+ Tax and Transaction Fee Refunds

Tax and transaction fee credits resulting from return premiums, cancellations, and backouts are refundable pro-rata in SLIP+ for States. Credits must roll forward one full quarter before a refund can be requested.

To request a refund, complete the applicable refund authorization form:

  • SLIP+ Transaction Fee Refunds: You may submit one SLIP+ Fee Authorization Form for all SLIP+ transaction fee refund requests, regardless of state.
  • State Tax Refunds: A separate State Tax Refund Authorization Form is required for each state tax refund request.

Please include copies of the return premium or cancellation endorsement(s) or supporting documentation for the backout, along with the confirmation number of the original policy filing(s).

Completed refund documentation should be emailed to accounting@slipplus.com.

For questions regarding refunds, please contact our accounting department at accounting@slipplus.com or 877.267.9855, option 2.

Transaction Fee Credits

Based on user feedback, SLIP+ for States allows agents to pay SLIP+ transaction fees separately, by state. However, all SLIP+ transaction fees are included on a single invoice and paid to Florida Surplus Lines Service Office (FSLSO).

If your account has a transaction fee credit, it will automatically be applied to any unpaid fee balance, regardless of state. Transaction fee credits cannot be retained for a specific state.

To view credits, navigate to “Invoice & Payment History” under the INVOICES & PAYMENTS tab and select “View Invoices”.

For questions regarding transaction fee credits, please contact our accounting department at accounting@slipplus.com or 877.267.9855, option 2.

Common Reporting Errors & Best Practices

Filing transactions accurately enables our reconciliation systems to match agent and insurer filings independently, reducing secondary review and reconciliation requests. Below are errors our Premium Reconciliation team frequently identify:

  • Policy Number: Adding prefixes or suffixes to policy numbers, including leading zeros, or “-001”, that are not listed on the policy documentation produce reporting discrepancies and may weaken data matches. Submit filings in SLIP+ using the policy number shown on the policy documentation.

  • Layered & Quota Share Policies: Submit each insurer and its premium allocation separately when reporting layered and quota share policies. When multiple policy numbers are on a policy, report each layer using the associated policy number, insurer, and premium.

  • Insurers with Similar Names: Companies with similar names can be difficult to distinguish in the insurer list. Verify that the NAIC code of the selected company is correct when filing.
