Hot pools discount for Christchurch residentsChristchurch residents wanting a relaxing soak in New Brighton’s new hot pools will get discounted admission. They will pay $3 to $4 less for entry into He Puna Taimoana than those who live outside the Christchurch district under the charging system approved by Christchurch City Council. New Brighton’s new hot pools facility will officially open to the public on Saturday 4 April. There are five outdoor pools for year-round use, as well as a café, sauna and steam room. North Beach Car Park off-limits to freedom campersConcerns over safety and public access have prompted the Christchurch City Council to close the North Beach Car Park temporarily to freedom camping during weekends. The closure will apply until Easter Sunday and again from Labour weekend until New Year’s Eve. Funding boost for regeneration projectsThe Christchurch City Council’s plans for speeding up the city’s regeneration have been given a boost with the news the Government has approved three investment cases. Community sports hub moves forward with Council grantA $200,000 grant from Christchurch City Council will lay the foundations for a new sports hall in Parklands that will be used by ParaFed Canterbury and other community and recreation groups. Have your Say on Council's Draft Annual PlanWe want to hear your views on our draft budget for the coming year. This year's plan focuses on the need to secure the city’s water supply and upgrade roads, footpaths and facilities. It also prioritises keeping rates as low as possible. People have until Thursday 2 April to give their feedback. Level 1 water restrictions still in place across ChristchurchWater restrictions are still in place. Thank you to everyone for keeping an eye on your water usage. Level 1 restrictions means no outdoor water use is permitted between 3pm and 9pm, and the use of hoses, sprinklers and garden irrigation systems is permitted only on alternate days. Life in Christchurch survey shows what people think of their neighbourhoodsAt the end of last year, we asked residents to fill out a short online survey about what they like and dislike about where they live. The good news is, 83% of all Coastal-Burwood respondents said they like living in their neighbourhood. Read more below. Brief closure heralds service boost for Shirley Library and Service CentreShirley Library and Service Centre will close from Monday, 23 March for a six-week upgrade. The centre will reopen on Thursday, 30 April, with new postal and bill-paying services – along with Metro cards – available at the site. National Remembrance Service at Horncastle ArenaLet's come together as one to remember and honour those who were lost on 15 March 2019. This Sunday's national remembrance service, Ko Tātou, Tātou We Are One, will be held at Horncastle Arena at 3pm. It will honour those who died in last year's mosque attacks and build on the spirit of unity that came out of the tragedy.
