What's On in the Arts in Central Otago - October

The Nevis Valley, Central Otago by Lisa Nicole Moes. An exciting project is evolving in the Maniototo, and the Arts Centre people would like your help! Free coffee and dessert are on offer to anyone in the Maniototo who would like to contribute ideas toward a community art project. An opportunity has arisen to create a mural in the Maniototo, and people living in the area are invited to contribute to the design brief. What do you think is important and special about your
area? What do you think best represents the essence of your unique community, heritage and identity? Pop along to the Maniototo Arts Centre, 7.30pm this coming Monday the 11th of October for a casual and convivial sharing of ideas. Your thoughts will be passed on to internationally recognized artist Lisa Moes who has been commissioned to design a memorable and permanent piece of public art for Ranfurly. It is hoped the final design will also be reproduced on tea-towels, cards and posters which you will able to purchase and share with family and friends. This work will be a unique celebration of the Maniototo and an image that the community can relate to and be proud of - so get along and have your say! More public art will be popping up in Central Otago in the coming months. Five designs submitted by local artists have been selected for the second phase of the Chorus Box Public Art Initiative in association with the CODC and Central Otago Arts. Keep an eye out in Cromwell, Clyde, Millers Flat and Naseby for these works very soon! There is plenty more happening in the arts in Central Otago this month. Get
along to Central Stories for the final weeks of the Central Otago Art Society Blossom Festival Exhibition. Eade Gallery is showing exhibition of works by Christchurch artist Phillip Beadle Autumn Light Central. Marion Vialade's solo show The Cloud
Diary is on at Hullabaloo Art Space, followed by an exhibition of Ceramic Works by Robert Franklin. New works are on show at Octa Gallery and the Black Rabbit Cafe is currently exhibiting works by Bannockburn artist Jenni Barker. Finally, after the very frustrating cancellation of the inaugural Cover to Cover event, (due to COVID), plans are underway to revisit this on November 28th. Keep an eye out for advertising toward
the end of this month. Enjoy everything on in the arts in Central Otago in October.
