Virtual reality gogglesYou may have noticed we've been offering children Virtual Reality Goggles in our CGM workshops to help improve coping and reduce distress around the timing of the CGM insertion. Thanks to the positive feedback, we are now extending the use of the SmileyScope goggles out to other services such as insulin pump starts. Newly diagnosed folderThe newly diagnosed education folder has been updated, in line with the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) clinical practice consensus guidelines. This includes changes to the clinical target range and treatment for hypoglcaemia. You can view the updated Newly Diagnosed File online. Managing your hyposOur researchers from the Rio Tinto Children's Diabetes Centre and the Diabetes Service are looking for participants with type 1 diabetes aged 2-18 years and their parents, to complete a short online survey about when and how they treat their hypos. Exercise app surveyOur exercise research team at Telethon Kids Institute has developed a mobile medical device health app in collaboration with young people living with T1D. To better understand the value of this app we invite you to complete the online survey. Community conversationOur researchers have been awarded funding to learn from families and help develop support for families whose child is identified as having early-stage T1D. We've held one community conversation and look forward to hosting an online session on April 17. The researchers at the Rio Tinto Children’s Diabetes Centre are currently designing a physical activity program for adolescents with type 1 diabetes (T1d). We are looking for adolescents aged 14-17 with T1D to help us design a program which will help encourage engagement in physical activity regardless of current ability.
