From the MayorIt’s exciting to see pickleball courts coming to Ku-ring-gai as we mark out courts at Regimental Park in Killara and Warrimoo Tennis Courts in St Ives. Additional locations will soon follow as part of a 12-month trial.
Pickleball has seen an incredible surge in popularity largely due to the accessibility of the sport. It’s relatively easy to learn and anyone can play and for many older people in our community it can be a fun, social experience to reduce isolation and improve overall wellbeing. More information is on our website. I’m pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the Ku-ring-gai Council Local Citizen of the Year Awards. These awards celebrate the unsung heroes and quiet achievers who generously donate their time and effort to help others and make Ku-ring-gai an amazing place to live.
They are individuals and groups who have demonstrated excellent citizenship and made a real difference to the people of Ku-ring-gai. If that sounds like someone you know, please visit our website and nominate them before 7 December. Just a reminder that our free Spring Twilight Concert in the Park is on this Saturday. The family friendly event starts at 5pm on Saturday 18 October at Wahroonga Park, with performances from Endless Summer and Running in the Shadows. Enjoy classics from Fleetwood Mac and timeless hits from the 60s to the 80s. For more information visit our website. Mayor Christine Kay
