A Note from the ED

Hello K4P Community!

We did it! Thanks to you we not only met our goal of $3,000 for the Create-A-Thon, we surpassed it! Drum roll, please: the Create-A-Thon raised nearly $4,500! You all showed up for Knitting4Peace in a BIG way this summer with monetary gifts and beautiful handmade items.  The impact your support has on our programming is enormous. I am grateful to you and so proud to be a part of this community.

The success of the Create-A-Thon will allow us to ship more comforting items to those who need them.

The In Stitches Peace Pod creates for the Create-A-Thon

We all know the cost of shipping has increased and now we can comfortably meet the needs of our constituents.  Thanks to our fabulous makers, we have many lovely new items that will bring warmth and love to humans around the world.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the event. Whether you Sponsored, Stitched, or Supported, you made a difference.

Peace Pod Spotlight:

Saratoga Peace Pod, Saratoga Springs, NY

The Saratoga Peace Pod created 117 washcloths in July to donate to one of their partner organizations, The MoonCatcher Project. The washcloths created by the Peace Pod are included in the nonprofit's "MoonCatcher Kits".

The mission of the MoonCatcher Project is to optimize girls' lives worldwide by removing barriers related to menstruation. MoonCatcher Kits include reusable and washable menstrual pads, along with educational information about menstruation. These kits are sent to girls around the world who don’t have access to appropriate supplies or information about their reproductive health. The kits and knowledge allow girls to manage menstruation with dignity and confidence, increasing the chances that they will stay in school.

A huge thank you to the Saratoga Peace Pod for delivering to this powerful and essential organization.

You may have noticed our staff and Board members include pronouns after our signatures. This is part of our ongoing commitment to educating ourselves and increasing efforts to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in our work at Knitting4Peace. Here’s a helpful article, with links to more resources, on why awareness about how we refer to one another is important. We can all keep learning, showing respect, and supporting each other!
