Hello

What's On in Central Otago - July

It is not long now before all will be revealed at WoolOn’s Creative Fashion Event... entries are starting to arrive from all over the country and we are told to expect some serious wow-factor on the catwalk in August.

The WoolOn events line up for 2018 is as follows...

New World First Look - Friday, August 17. A full fashion show with rowed seating for a great first viewing of this year’s garments, a fabulous night of entertainment for all.

Rural Women New Zealand WoolOn Awards - Saturday, August 18. Champagne, delicious snacks, entertainment and high-fashion combine to make the gala awards night something very special. Concludes with the announcement of award winners for 2018.

Up Close - Sunday, August 19, Central Stories, Alexandra. An intimate experience for followers of wool craft and design. Get a closer look at the winning garments, enjoy insider commentary from WoolOn’s judges, meet designers and get tips for your entry for 2019!

Tickets to all of these events can be purchased from Central Otago’s I-sites, by phoning (03) 262-7999, or online at www.woolon.co.nz. Visit the WoolOn's facebook, instagram or web page for regular updates.

The inaugural 'Glow' starts on July 12th -  a three day family friendly festival of food, drinks, entertainment, art and light at The Packing Shed, Boulton Rd, Earnscleugh. The Fine Thyme Theatre Company will be performing 'Allo Allo' opening on the 13th of July in Cromwell and Megan Huffadine opens her solo show at Hullabaloo Art Space on Sunday the 15th.

There have been a number of surveys doing the rounds lately, gathering community feedback on potential changes and/ or developments within Central Otago. The latest is a feasibility/ business case study for the proposed Riverside Park and Miners Village development in lower Tarbet St, Alexandra. Consultants are inviting everyone to provide input by completing this five minute survey – https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/miners-village.

Finally, a massive congratulations to the Dunstanza Senior Girls Choir who have been invited to attend the 2018 29th Australian International Music Festival in Sydney, in early July. They will be taking part in three concerts, one of which is in the Sydney Opera House.

Have a happy July and keep warm!
