Woolston Village upgrade to start in April

Kia ora from Woolston Village Upgrade team.
We hope you are all staying well during Alert Level 2.
We wanted to share an update on the progress of the Woolston Village Upgrade project. The proposed start date of this project has been delayed in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Initially we had planned to announce our lead contractor in March, with the aim of starting work in April, but due to legal and contractual issues relating to the impact of COVID-19, the appointment of a contractor has been delayed by a couple of months.  Once we have an agreed contractor and start date we will be in touch.

Appointing a contractor

Last year, we invited construction companies to submit proposals to lead the Woolston Village works. Applications closed in February and our team has been busy reviewing some outstanding proposals from a number of experienced contractors.
This process has been delayed due to the Covid-19 lockdown and we are now looking at starting work mid- winter, instead of April as previously planned.
We are in conversations with contractors to understand how the Covid-19 pandemic has affected the way they operate and any impact this may have on their proposed work programme for the Woolston Village upgrade. We'll announce the successful contractor once this stage is complete.

Meet the contractor sessions

Once we award a lead contractor, we’ll hold 'Meet the Contractor' sessions to introduce the project team to the local community.
We expect these sessions to be held in June or July. We’ll be in touch with details closer to the time.
