From the Mayor
This week Council held an Extraordinary Meeting to discuss Marian Street Theatre. The passion of the theatre’s supporters is undeniable and our decision on Monday to preserve the development application for the site recognises that. Our role now is to facilitate the best possible outcome for the theatre and the arts in Ku-ring-gai.
I had the pleasure this week of welcoming the 2026 Order of Australia recipients to Council to celebrate their magnificent achievements. Each one of the recipients has contributed greatly to Ku-ring-gai and the wider community. The official welcome was an opportunity to celebrate their success and thank them for their efforts.
Congratulations to Bike North on their 30th anniversary! The group has advocated strongly over the years for the rights of cyclists and is a valuable member of our Active Transport Advisory Committee.
If you’re a local small business owner, cyber security must be a priority. Join us for a free session at the CSIRO Lindfield on 28 August, with guest speakers specialising in all aspects of cyber security sharing their knowledge. Book your place.
Finally, I’m excited to announce we will be holding the Eco Festival next month. From 1 to 30 September, the festival aims to connect, inspire, educate and empower our community to live more sustainably. The month-long festival is packed with workshops, talks, children's activities and information on living cleaner, greener and more sustainably. You can find out more on our website.
