Banks Peninsula storm roading updatesWeather Forecast We just wanted to contact you ahead of the forecast rain for Christchurch and Banks Peninsula tomorrow. Latest rainfall forecasts predict around 25-40mm for Banks Peninsula, particularly Eastern Bays, for Friday through to midday Saturday. This is a reduction from the forecast earlier this week and significantly lower amount than the December 15/16 rain event which saw about 250mm of rainfall in 48 hours. The current forecast is unlikely to result in flooding, however you may see some small areas of ponding in low lying areas. We are continuing to keep a close eye on the forecast, with hourly reviews leading into the forecasted rain period. You may have seen our contractors in trucks spreading metal on roads. This is will help the roads retain their grip and prevent them becoming slippery. Contractors are also on hand to clear grates and open outfalls and culverts if required. Please be reassured that we are well prepared for the forecasted rain. If you have any questions or concerns during the rain please contact our customer contact centre on 03 941 8999 or 0800 800 169. The regular roading newsletter, providing an update on the affected bays, will be issued tomorrow. You received this email because you are subscribed to receive updates from Christchurch City Council. |
