Weekly Countdown to Full Transition

Important: Huron Registration Deadline for Health System Users

All health system users who require access to Huron IRB must complete registration by May 11 to avoid complications with the registration process.

If there is any possibility that you previously had a Brown ID (e.g., as a former student, employee, or affiliate) and will need access to Huron, you should register now. Waiting until after migration may result in delays due to additional troubleshooting requirements.

Transition Timeline (At-a-Glance)

We are officially entering the weekly countdown to full alignment of HRPP operations. Key milestones:

  • Now: All new project submissions must be completed in Huron IRB

  • IRBNet: Closed to new submissions as of May 4, 2026

  • Next Phase: Data migration from IRBNet to Huron on May 12, 2026

  • More detailed information on the HRPP Alignment page.

If you have an urgent review need after May 4, please contact the HRPP team directly for assistance at IRB@brown.edu.

Data Migration Update

We are entering the final stages of data migration from IRBNet to Huron IRB. Please review the following important details:

  • Final IRBNet data pull: May 12

  • Data load into Huron IRB: Night of May 20

  • Go-live of migrated data: May 21

What will be migrated:

  • Only active projects

  • Project-level information only (e.g., basic study details, approval dates, risk level)

What to expect after migration:

  • The first step for study teams will be to populate the Huron study record with active study documents

  • Not all study materials will be preloaded—manual updates will be required

Roles & permissions in Huron:

  • Only PIs and PI Proxies can submit studies in Huron

  • Proxies previously reported to HRPP will be preloaded into Huron

  • Any additional proxy assignments must be completed after migration

  • Study personnel may be added to create and edit submissions, but only PIs and proxies can submit

We appreciate your attention to these details to help ensure a smooth transition.

Training & Support Resources

To support this transition, a variety of training options are available:

  • On-Demand Training: Accessible anytime via the HRPP Education Center website

  • Live Training Sessions: Now available and listed on the HRPP Training Calendar

  • Self-Registration: Users can sign up directly through the website for upcoming sessions

We strongly encourage all users to take advantage of these resources to ensure a smooth transition.
