Exploring Artificial Intelligence - A Conversation for Parents on Raising Reflective and Responsible Learners

On Tuesday, February 24, families gathered for an evening of conversation and curiosity—exploring how AI is being thoughtfully introduced at Crofton House as a tool to enhance—not replace or undermine—learning. At the heart of all of this continues to be the trust, connections, student safety, and learning culture that define our community. Learn more and discover practical ways to support your child's learning at home.

Celebrating International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day (IWD) is on Sunday, March 8. Earlier this week, Senior School students reflected on the meaning of International Women’s Day during advisory. Today, Senior School students and staff have also joined together in wearing purple– a symbol of justice, dignity, and women’s equality.

This year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” invites a mindset grounded in generosity, collaboration, and shared progress. It highlights the power of reciprocity: when individuals, organizations, and communities invest in women, opportunities grow, systems become stronger, and societies flourish.

Empowering Change: Celebrating Ongoing Environmental Stewardship & Sustainability

Over the past few months, the School’s commitment to the Active Stewardship strategy of Thriving in Possibility has taken shape through a variety of environmental initiatives across campus — from hands‑on projects and the exchange of ideas to creating spaces that invite students and staff to explore what sustainability means at CHS. Exploring Canada’s Land and Stories

This term, Junior School students have been discovering Canada through the Protecting Nature and Culture with Parks Canada map. Highlighting Indigenous territories and place names, national parks and historic sites, as well as the country’s diverse ecosystems and biomes, the map offers students a meaningful way to connect with Canada’s geography and heritage.

Together, students put their map-reading skills to the test in scavenger hunts, explored geographical regions linked to their classroom learning, and deepened their understanding of the land and its stories.

Creativity, Communication & Kinesiology: Exploring Physiotherapy through the Work Experience Program

The CHS Work Experience Program gives Grade 11 and 12 students the opportunity to gain real-world experience, contribute meaningfully to organizations, and explore potential career paths. This month, we’re spotlighting the placements of Lucy and Alina, Grade 12 students, with alumna and physiotherapist at Kids Physio Group, Chelsea Eng ’15. Read more.

From the Archives

The School Birthday has a long history at Crofton House. Originally celebrated on May 23, the birthday of the School’s founder, Dr Jessie Gordon, the date was later moved to March 1, the day the School opened its doors in 1898. Pictured here are several students celebrating the School’s 75th Birthday in 1973.

Throughout the years, this special tradition has continued to bring our community together—students, staff, and alumnae. We look forward to celebrating with everyone tomorrow, March 6!

Winter sports have wrapped up with exciting highlights from both the Junior and Senior Schools, including the Grade 7 basketball teams winning bronze medals, and the Senior School’s bantam team earning silver in the ISA Championships. The junior team celebrated as 2026 League Champions, while the varsity team finished 12th in the AAA Provincial Championships last week. As we transition to spring, the Senior School’s soccer, badminton, tennis, and track and field tryouts and first practices are underway, alongside the transition to on-water training for rowing. Help Equip Every Student to Succeed—It’s Not Too Late!

Our annual Tools for School campaign (formerly the Backpack Drive) is underway, and this year, the need is greater than ever. With your support, Crofton House families provide essential school supplies to hundreds of students across the Lower Mainland through our partnerships with the Vancouver School Board and YWCA Single Mothers’ Support Service. See the February 18 email for more details.

We are getting closer to our goal of 300 supply kits, and we still need your support! A full supply kit costs $60, and you are welcome to donate as many kits as you wish. Additional contributions help us provide even more students with the tools they need. Click here to donate, until Wednesday, March 11.
