It feels like a lot has happened since our last edition. Not only are the crops growing but the political landscape has shifted. With the new Government now in place we await to see how Labour's policy changes will impact the agricultural community. All will be revealed during the Autumn Budget on 30th October 2024, and we will continue to provide updates to the keep you informed of any announcements that would impact you and your farming business. In the meantime, with speculation of the reforms to Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax, we explore the impact this could have on those planning to sell or gift their farmland and buildings. If on the other hand you are developing new or existing farm buildings, we also look at the key considerations to make to reduce your tax liability. Moving away from politics and tax, a highlight for me this summer has been The Great Yorkshire Show, where I chaired the Future Farmers of Yorkshire's Breakfast meeting.
