New website beams out artists' profiles to the world
The sky is the limit for Central Otago artists since the launch of www.centralotagoarts.com, an innovative website built to promote the region's arts.
Artists and dignitaries gathered to celebrate the launch of the new website recently at Central Otago Stories Museum and Gallery, Alexandra.
www.centralotagoarts.com has been a major project this year for Central Otago District Arts Trust (CODAT).
After years of consultation and planning, Central Otago arts are now being marketed both locally and globally. The new site, a first for the region, opens a window on local arts' events so intending visitors can coincide their trips to time with activities and individual artists' gallery hours.
As a region Central Otago spreads out and some artists work in remote areas. Ms Maxine Williams, Arts Coordinator comments that the website now gives Central Otago the potential to become an extremely dynamic and progressive arts destination despite the isolation. By providing a rewarding online experience it will remain as a ready reference kept to the front of visitor's minds. A flow-on financial effect can be expected not only to the featured artists, but also to tourism and local businesses.
There are over 30 artists already listed on the new site and CODAT expect that number to double within the next few months.
Artists may have a name and contact listing on the website which is free. A further option expands their presence to a profile able to contain 10 gallery images at the low cost of $59 per year.
Ms Williams urges all artists, whether they are painters, poets, sculptors, dancers, singers or writers to make the most of this opportunity.
