Special Edition Pānui – Energy and Resource Markets

Staff in a meeting at MBIE offices

Are you interested in helping us shape positive outcomes for Māori? Do you want to learn how your views can shape policy discussions? Do you have transferable skills?

MBIE has created new roles inviting fresh perspectives, a willingness to learn new skills and confidence to provide a kaupapa Māori view.

The 6 month opportunities aim to create space for iwi and hapū voices to be heard at a policy making level, and ensure iwi and hapū have opportunity to develop further sector knowledge. As part of MBIEs’ ongoing commitment to their treaty partners, these roles will be supported to develop not only at an individual level, but to also consider how these roles can support the aspirations of Māori.

In these roles you will be supporting ministerial servicing and preparing meeting briefs.  This is a fantastic opportunity to learn the policy craft and develop policy competencies.

You will already have good written and verbal communication skills, and a willingness to learn how your experiences and learnings can contribute to developing policy outcomes.

You will have a learning agility to either develop existing skills or learn new skills including:

  • Analysing and assessing information and evidence from a variety of sources
  • Developing policy options
  • Learning about the policy domain and problem definition
  • Providing clear, well-reasoned policy products

Flexible working arrangements can be discussed.

Please send your Expression of Interest by Monday 7 March to ermpaanui@mbie.govt.nz

If you have any questions, please send through an email.

The health, safety and wellbeing of our people is important and it is a requirement for you to be fully vaccinated to work for MBIE.
