Pierre Poilievre is increasingly popular with young Canadian voters. That’s quite a feat for the Conservative leadership front-runner, since the party has been skewing older for decades.
What’s going on? Today in The Conversation Canada, Sam Routley of Western University explains that Canadian youth are feeling increasingly economically disadvantaged and resentful. Poilievre’s messaging about gatekeepers who are preventing them from succeeding is really resonating, Routley writes.
With Poilievre poised to win the Conservative Party of Canada leadership on Sept. 10, will his momentum with young voters sustain him until the next federal election? If so, it may change the face of Canadian politics.
